"Ta-Ta Tents" $25
No matter what you call them, these nursing covers are a must-have for breastfeeding mommies. The name-brand ones are expensive, so I started making my own so I could keep one in the car and one in the house. These covers have become my standard baby shower gift, and they are always a huge hit with the new mom and the crowd of older women who wish they had something like this in their day. The two best features are the strap around the neck (which prevents the baby from exposing your hooters to the world) and the boning along the top edge (which allows the breastfeeding mom to see what's going on down there).
aprons for little helpers $15-$25
I grew up playing house and dress-up with my sisters, so I love anything that brings back those memories. I also love fabric, rikrak, pom-pom balls, and ribbon... so I started making these aprons for my niece who cooks up a storm in her play kitchen. Since then, they've become my favorite thing to give older brothers and sisters who are welcoming new babies into their homes (and who are going to need to be big helpers for mommy). I also give them as birthday and holiday gifts for children who love helping their moms and dads in the kitchen.
